EVs have always been a part of the Pokemon series. They’ve been the primary reason that a Pokemon captured at level five and raised to level 50 is stronger than a Pokemon of the same species that was freshly caught at level 50. While those stats have long been hidden, recent games including Pokemon Scarlet & Violet have thankfully let players see how EVs work.

Though grinding EVs is still a process there are spots that allow players to quickly and easily max out their HP stats. Here is how to farm HP EVs in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet and the best places to do so.
How to Farm HP EVs in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet
Players can max out their HP EVs by equipping Pokemon with a Power Weight item and winning battles. The Power Weight item, which is found at all Delibird Presents stores, adds a guaranteed eight HP EVs on top of the normal EV yields of the defeated Pokemon. Players can also battle specific Pokemon to earn even more EVs.
There is a long list of Pokemon that give the player’s party HP EVs when they are defeated. The number of EVs earned from each battle ranges from one to three, though certain Pokemon give EVs in multiple stats. When looking to max a stat, players should focus on catching Pokemon that offer pure yields in one stat to expedite the process and to avoid using EV resetting berries.
These Pokemon, as well as their higher and lower evolutions, all offer pure HP EV yields and are ideal for farming:
Jigglypuff Chansey Marill Wooper Dunsparce Shellos Barboach Tropius Drifloon Makuhita Foongus Alomomola Skiddo Skwovet Lechonk Tadbulb Cetoddle Dondozo
Best Place to Farm HP EVs
Casseroya Lake and its southern shores are the best places to farm HP EVs in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet. The location of the False Dragon Titan boss battle has loads of Pokemon that allow for fast HP EV farming.
This is because of the sheer number of Dondozo, Marill, and powerful Tera Raid Pokemon Azumarill that spawn in this area. Though many other Pokemon can spawn in this area, players can make a sandwich that increases the encounter rate of Fairy Pokemon to make this even easier. If not, players can also defeat some Dondozo in the waters to get some quick HP EVs.
Marill offers two HP EVs upon defeat, while Azumarill and Dondozo offer three. These are upped to 10 and 11 total when Pokemon are holding the Power Weight item. A Pokemon hits its HP maximum at 252 EVs, so players will be able to hit maximum HP in around 25 battles.
While it’s easy to farm this area to simply max out a Pokemon’s HP EVs, players can also reach precise EV totals by farming Marills. By gaining 10 EVs with each win, players can easily track how many HP EVs their Pokemon has. The process can then be finished by removing the Power Weight to get the exact total.
Pokemon Scarlet & Violet are available now on Nintendo Switch.
