While only available through Steam at the moment, Temtem has plans to release on all major current-generation platforms like PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. Now, the recent State of Play revealed the game will be coming to PlayStation 5 after the console launches sometime this holiday season.

For those who may have never heard Temtem before, the game was a Kickstarter game back in 2018. Temtem is a monster-catching game sharing clear inspiration and many similarities with the video game giant, Pokemon. The game shares broad similarities like battling and capturing creatures, even sharing concepts like Safari Zone-like areas added in updates to the game during early access. While the game’s development studio Crema has plans to launch the game on consoles, it seems launch is still a ways off.

Today’s State of Play, however, dedicated a small chunk of its presentation to Temtem. While the brief trailer didn’t highlight any new islands or new mystical creatures, the trailer did end with the announcement that the game will be coming to PS5 sometime after the console hits the market. Naturally, no date was given to the PS5 release of Temtem, as the PlayStation 5 has yet to be given any release date aside from the vague holiday 2020 time frame.

Temtem has received very positive reviews on Steam from critics and players alike, with many players praising the game in comparison to Pokemon. While Pokemon has stood the test of time for nearly 25 years at this point, many fans of the franchise were a bit unsatisfied with the most recent mainline entry in the series, Sword and Shield. Temtem players have praised the game for providing them something that Pokemon did not, along with interesting islands to explore and cool looking TemTem creatures to capture and battle alongside.

Since Temtem is currently only available on Steam through Early Access, the game is still constantly receiving updates as it gears up for its full launch. A recent update added a new island and tems to capture, while silently raising the price an extra $2.50 for the added content. Many PlayStation fans are eager to get their hands on Temtem, and luckily even those early adopters of the PS5 will have a chance to play the game on the newest hardware.

Temtem is currently available for PC in Early Access.
