At the very least, that’s how it went for SUKnives, a streamer playing Pokemon Let’s Go. He was doing the aforementioned method in order to catch a shiny Mewtwo, which took him approximately 30 hours of spawn resetting. This also took a total of 1,765 resets before SUKnives encountered a shiny Mewtwo, but when the time to catch it came, SUKnives fell short on balls.
Of course, when the streamer ran out of Pokeballs, the shiny fled. SUKnives came to the encounter with approximately 100 Pokeballs, including 30-40 Great or Ultra Balls, which he thought would be enough. Check out the clip of the shiny Mewtwo fleeing here:
As unfortunate as this is, SUKnives may have benefitted from going in with more Pokeballs. Alternatively, for those who have yet to pick up a Shiny Charm in Pokemon Let’s Go, it’s worth mentioning that it can be obtained prior to facing this Mewtwo (shiny or otherwise) if players transfer another Mewtwo from its mobile counterpart Pokemon GO.
That means those who wish to follow in SUKnives’ footprints successfully would increase their odds from about 1 in 4,000 to approximately 1 in 1,300. Of course, that doesn’t guarantee an encounter, but it definitely cuts back on the grind. Unfortunately, there isn’t another method to increase shiny spawns on legendaries that work on lesser Pokemon like the catch combos, so players will need to suffer through to get that shiny legendary.
