There are multiple factors in play when it comes to increasing a player’s chance of spawning a Shiny Pokémon in both Pokémon Let’s Go titles. According to Reddit user ddsuktuoft, one of those factors is caused internally by the system’s RAM, and not by factors in the player’s control, such as holding onto Lures or Shiny Charms, although having said items will greatly improve spawn rates for a Shiny regardless.
According to the post, Pokémon that disappear off-screen are actually tucked away in the Switch’s RAM. These Pokémon are considered OLD spawns, and are not included in the 1 in 315 Shiny spawn rate that was discovered. This means everytime a player re-enters an area, there are less NEW Pokémon spawning around them, thus resulting in more time being needed for a Shiny to spawn.
So how do players increase their odds? Well, since the system’s RAM is being taken up by OLD spawns whenever the player is avoiding wild Pokémon, the simple solution is to start encountering and catching any Pokémon that match the shiny players are pursuing. This proves to add extra benefit as well, as catching similar Pokémon increases a player’s Catch Combo while clearing out the RAM for NEW spawns.
Even with these tips for encountering rare Shiny Pokémon quicker, Game Freak hasn’t shied away from the tradition of offering exclusive Pokémon for both the Eevee and Pikachu versions. Luckily for those who’ve stuck with Pokémon Go for the past couple of years, it’s possible to fill out the game’s Pokedex by syncing a Pokémon Go account with Pokémon Let’s Go, though this won’t add them into a respective player’s starting lineup, they’ll still need to be caught in order to train them.
