Said leaker, Twitter user @eclipse_TT, predicted the existence — and release date of a “restored” version of the Pokemon Legends: Arceus “found footage” trailer, as well as said trailer’s reveal of Hisuian Zorua and Zoroark. They then participated in a podcast call with other Pokemon enthusiasts and revealed that some of the earlier October leaks held some merit to them. By extension, they gave credence to leaks claiming Hisuian Pokemon starter evolutions and the typings associated with them.

For those unaware, the leaks claim that the final evolutions of Rowlett, Oshawott, and Cyndaquil — the starters of Pokemon Legends: Arceus — would all be dual-type Pokemon. Specifically, Decidueye will be a Grass-Fighting type, Samurott will be a Water-Dark type, and Typhlosion will be a Fire-Ghost type. How said typings affect each Pokemon’s look remains a mystery, as the leak didn’t share many other details regarding the trio.

It’s worth noting that while @eclipse_TT has a history of being accurate with their Pokemon predictions and leaks, any leaks regarding Pokemon Legends: Arceus should be taken with a grain of salt. It’s certainly possible for leakers to make accurate guesses about things before they happen, especially when given context beforehand, which the found footage trailer did for Zorua. Also, even if the leaks are true, Nintendo and The Pokemon Company can cut content out of Pokemon Legends: Arceus before it ever sees the light of day, so until stated otherwise, accurate leaks may as well be untrue.

That aside, many Pokemon fans already expected the starters of Pokemon Legends: Arceus to have Husuian forms. It would be weird for The Pokemon Company to develop Hisuian variants for other Pokemon, but not for the Pokemon every player is guaranteed to catch. Doing so would be the equivalent of neglecting Gigantamax forms for the Sword and Shield starters. Aside from Legendaries, starter Pokemon are the face of their respective games, so it only makes sense for them to embody the game’s gimmicks too.
