Pokemon Legends: Arceus is the next mainline game in the lengthy Pokemon franchise, and the first to not be sold as a pair. This game features some of the biggest gameplay changes in the series yet with open-ended exploration and crafting. New gameplay changes have also been introduced including the player character getting knocked out by Pokemon in combat, and catching Pokemon directly on the overworld without needing to transition into a battle.

If sales numbers for Pokemon Legends: Arceus are high, this may signal a change in the way Pokemon games are developed, especially if it is compared to Pokemon Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl which just released a couple of months ago. Game Freak could expand on Pokemon Legends: Arceus’ formula and make improvements to create a new direction for future games.

The question will be whether or not those who are on the fence about Pokemon Legends: Arceus can be convinced to pick up the game. The gaming world is sure to be keeping their eye on how Pokemon Legends: Arceus is received by gamers.

Pokemon Legends: Arceus is available now exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
