RELATED: Pokemon Legends: Arceus - Every Hisuian Pokemon (& Where to Find Them)

Ursaluna is a little slower than Wyrdeer, and it isn’t able to jump or dash on command either. It does offer something that Wyrdeer doesn’t, however, with Ursaluna able to track buried treasure and people. With this in mind, it’s arguably the most useful ridable creature in Pokemon Legends: Arceus. This guide will explain how to ride Ursaluna, as well as how its treasure-finding ability works.

How to Ride Ursaluna

Before players can ride Ursaluna, they’ll first need to beat it in battle in order to calm its enraged state. This happens in the Crimson Mirelands area towards the end of story mission 8, with the Normal / Ground-type Pokemon being level 26 at the time. It’s weak against Fighting, Water, Grass, and Ice-Type attacks, so beating it should be fairly straightforward, especially for those who chose Rowlet or Oshawott as their starter Pokemon.

After beating Ursaluna, its Warden, Calaba, will suggest playing the Celestica Flute, which will cause the Pokemon to hand over the Earth Plate. From here on out, players will be able to ride Ursaluna by pressing right on the D-Pad to select it and then the + button to begin riding. Alternatively, players can start riding Wyrdeer first and then use the D-Pad to switch to Ursaluna instead.

How to Find Treasure With Ursaluna

While riding Ursaluna, players may notice some sonar-like waves coming from the Pokemon’s head. Most of the time these waves will be green, but if there’s any buried treasure nearby they’ll be yellow, orange, or red instead. They’ll also become larger in size and more frequent in tempo the closer players get to the treasure, with the controller also vibrating. If Ursaluna is tracking a person rather than an item, the waves will be blue in color.

In order to find treasure with Ursaluna, players should spin around and head in the direction in which the waves are darkest in color. Ursaluna will let them know that they’re heading in the right direction too, as the Pokemon will speed up whenever it’s facing in the right direction. Upon reaching the right spot, players will then have the option to press the Y button and Ursaluna will dig up the treasure.

What Items Can Ursaluna Dig Up?

Ursaluna can dig up just about anything, from scraps of iron to valuable evolution stones and items. Considering the latter can set players back more than 1,000 Merit Points each at the exchange in Jubilife Village, they represent a very good find. Of course, players can also find Evolution items inside space-time distortions, though as these appear completely at random, digging them up with Ursaluna is the more reliable of the two methods.
