RELATED: Pokemon Legends: Arceus - How to Get a Guaranteed Shiny Ponyta
Players first visit this area during Pokemon Legends: Arceus’ second mission, but are only able to explore a very small part of it on this occasion. Upon their return, however, they’ll be able to check out additional areas like the Horseshoe Plains and the Sandgem flats, where they’ll start to find shiny red crystals that contain valuable crafting materials. Unfortunately, however, the game doesn’t actually tell players how to break these crystals right away.
How to Break Rocks and Crystals in Pokemon Legends: Arceus
In order to break crystals in Pokemon Legends: Arceus, players will need to throw their partner Pokemon at them using the ZR button. After emerging from its Poke Ball, the Pokemon will then charge into the crystal, and — providing they have space — the minerals harvested will be added to the player’s satchel. They’ll mainly be getting Tumblestones from these crystals, which, together with acorns, are one of the main ingredients for crafting Poke Balls.
As they gain access to new areas, players will start to find different colored crystals like black and blue. These provide colored Tumblestones, which can be used to craft different types of Poke Balls once players have gotten their hands on the appropriate crafting recipes. Every now and again they’ll come across a sparkling crystal which also contains Stardust. This can be sold for 1,000 Poke Dollars at the shop in Jubilife Village, so players should make sure to harvest it whenever they get a chance.
Sometimes, a crystal will be sticking out of the ground slightly and will jiggle a little if players get close. These have Pokemon hiding beneath them, which will lead to a surprise battle if players throw a Pokemon at them. Occasionally, players will also come across huge rocks and boulders that block their way forward, such as the one at the end of the Oreburrow Tunnel. Despite being significantly larger than the crystals though, players can break these rocks/boulders in exactly the same way.
Pokemon Legends: Arceus is available now for the Nintendo Switch.
