There are many changes in Pokemon Legends: Arceus, but the more things change, the more they stay the same. Numerous main series Pokemon games over the years have had duplication glitches, allowing players to duplicate items and even Pokemon, and now it seems one has been discovered in Pokemon Legends: Arceus by Twitter user Kqttling.

To perform the glitch, Pokemon Legends: Arceus players first need to make sure auto-save is switched off. The next step is actually finding a shiny Pokemon, which may take some time. And more specifically, it must be a shiny Pokemon that players find in rocks, trees, or treasure chests. After finding and catching a shiny Pokemon that came from a rock, tree, or treasure chest, players need to save their game. Then head into a cave located in the same area, wait for about 30 minutes, return to where the shiny was found, and, if done correctly, there should be a clone of that shiny Pokemon ready to be caught.
Pokemon Legends: Arceus players may be most interested in this glitch because it allows them to duplicate shiny Pokemon, but as pointed out by IGN, it works with regular Pokemon as well. So if Pokemon Legends: Arceus players want multiple versions of any particular Pokemon that they find in rocks, trees, or treasure chests, they can use this method to duplicate them. The time it takes for the glitch to work means that players will likely only want to do it for special Pokemon like shinies, if they feel like it’s worth doing at all, however.
This is far from the first time that a Pokemon game has had a duplication glitch. Game Freak and Nintendo didn’t have a way to remove the duplication glitches from the older Pokemon games as they didn’t have online connectivity, but it’s quite possible that this glitch will be chopped out of Pokemon Legends: Arceus at some point in the near future. So anyone that wants to take advantage of this particular Pokemon Legends: Arceus glitch should make sure to do so as soon as possible.
Besides Pokemon Legends: Arceus updates fixing glitches and addressing other issues with the game, it’s possible new content will be added down the line. Pokemon Legends: Arceus is a massive sales success so far, and so it wouldn’t be surprising for Game Freak and Nintendo to prep some DLC expansions for it. Nothing official on that front has been announced at this time, though, so fans should keep their expectations in check.
Pokemon Legends: Arceus is out now, exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
