In order to celebrate this year’s Game Developers Conference (GDC 2019) and presumably promote its lectures at the event - with one of the talks focusing on the creation of Pokemon GO’s relatively new PvP feature, Trainer Battles - GDC 2019 attendees and those in the surrounding area should see Unown spawn rates increased. As it so happens, three Unown letters have been spotted at the GDC 2019 venue in San Francisco, with the letters G, D, and C appearing.

Those Pokemon GO Trainers looking to snag the aforementioned Unown forms while in the Bay Area would do well to catch them as soon as they can, as they won’t be spawning for too long. Apparently, the spawns of the Psychic-type are expected to last from March 18 until the end of GDC 2019 on March 22.

For those unaware, this isn’t the first instance of Unown showing up at a certain area and at a specific venue for the sake of a media-driven event, with Niantic having brought the creature to PAX 2018 last year for fans in the Seattle region. Niantic even had the Pocket Monster appear during SXSW 2018 to celebrate both Pokemon GO and the annual conglomerate festival of film, interactive media, and music.

All things considered, it’s safe to say that most Pokemon GO fans attending GDC 2019 and living in the surrounding San Francisco area will see this brief addition of these Unown forms as a delightful experience. If anything, it should act as an incentive to get folks in the area engaged with PoGO if they weren’t already.

Pokemon GO is available now for Android and iOS devices.
