The coming month or so will bring new opportunities to battle and catch Cresselia, Kyogre, and Groudon. These are three very popular and meta-relevant Pokemon that will be valuable additions to many collections. Both hardcore and casual players alike will be able to benefit from these popular raid bosses appearing early this summer.
To build up the raid hype even further, Niantic also confirmed that these three bosses will have a chance to appear as shiny during for some lucky players. If past shiny events are any indication, these are going to be some incredibly popular and in-demand Battle Raids thanks to that opportunity.
Cresselia
This Psychic-type Legendary Pokémon is said to represent the crescent moon, but don’t let its graceful exterior lull you during battle. Psychic-type Pokémon are weak against Bug-, Ghost-, and Dark-type Pokémon, so be sure to have those ready!
Date + Time: Monday, May 27, 2019, at 1 p.m. to Tuesday, June 18, 2019, at 1 p.m. PDT (GMT −7)
Kyogre
The Sea Basin Pokémon is said to have widened the seas and waged battle with Groudon. This Water-type Pokémon is weak against Grass- and Electric-type Pokémon. Can you earn this powerful creature’s trust and convince it to battle alongside you?
Date + Time: Tuesday, June 18, 2019, at 1 p.m. to Thursday, June 27, 2019, at 1 p.m. PDT (GMT −7)
Groudon
Groudon is said to have dueled titanically with Kyogre before falling into a deep slumber. It’s a Ground-type Pokémon, so, Trainers, this means Water-, Grass-, and Ice-type Pokémon are your best bets for defeating this powerful opponent!
Date + Time: Thursday, June 27, 2019, at 1 p.m. to Wednesday, July 10, 2019, at 1 p.m. PDT (GMT −7)
Kyogre and Groudon have returned to Battle Raids a few times already, but that doesn’t really make the pair any less exciting. They still haven’t been featured as a Research Breakthrough Reward, which means lots of more casual players are still on the hunt for more copies of these to add to their collections. As the summer continues, it will be interesting to see if Niantic introduces some additional Pokedex entries through Battle Raids, or if the company continues to throwback to prior bosses.
Either way, be sure to revisit our Kyogre counter guide and our Groudon counter guide before the Battle Raids kick off in a few weeks.
