Pokemon GO Fest 2022 wrapped up at the end of August, and the event brought the Unown alphabet for Gen 2 fans to capture alongside multiple Ultra Incursions in addition to a plethora of items and boosts. Outside big things for players like GO Fest, Community Day, and the Kanto/Johto tours, Niantic also sprinkles smaller events like the Steel-type one throughout the mobile game’s calendar year. Niantic has confirmed that Pokemon GO’s Steel-type event begins today, and it runs until September 27, giving Pokemon fans one week to capitalize on the arrival of two Ultra Beasts, a Mega upgrade to an existing Pokemon, limited Time Research, and more.

Celesteela and Kartana are the two Ultra Beasts joining the Pokemon GO rotation for the Steel-type event, with Celesteela spawning in five-star Raids in the Southern Hemisphere, and Kartana appearing in the same type of Raids in the Northern Hemisphere. Mega Aggron will also emerge from Raids during the event, while Togedemaru is making its Pokemon GO debut in random wild encounters and through incubated eggs. Other Pokemon seeing increased encounter rates during the Steel-type event are Aron, Beldum, Bronzor, Drilbur, Ferroseed, Magnemite, Nosepass, Pineco, Prinplup, and Galarian Stunfisk.

Pokemon GO Raids are being altered during the Steel-type event to see more Beldum, Klink, Scyther, Shieldon, and Togedemaru in One-Star Raids, while Two-Star Raids will have more Lairon, Magneton, Mawile, and Skarmory. Similar to other events’ Field Research tasks, the Steel-type one will reward players with Scizor and Steelix Mega Energy, and it will spawn Pokemon like the ones seeing encounter rate increases. Pokemon Eggs that require seven kilometers of walking are being impacted by the recent patch as well, with Alolan Sandshrew and Diglett, Galarian Meowth and Stunfisk, and Riolu hatching more frequently than outside the event.

As a few returning fans have noted that the Steel-type Pokemon GO event encourages them to return to the mobile game, several others responded to Niantic’s announcement on Twitter with friend requests accompanied by trainer codes. Some disappointed Pokemon GO players lamented the lack of Corviknight, Mega Lucario, and Shiny Meltan during the limited-time event, but there are plenty more coming to Niantic’s AR mobile game in the future.

Pokemon GO is available now for Android and iOS.
