The Hoenn Celebration event kicks off in Pokemon GO on Tuesday, January 19th and offers players the opportunity to fill in some missing Pokedex entries with increased Hoenn region spawns, Egg hatches, and Battle Raid bosses. The event will introduce a handful of bosses that differ from the the rest of the January 2021 Battle Raid bosses, so trainers should plan ahead to determine which bosses they want to battle during the limited window.

The lower tier Hoenn Battle Raid bosses will be pretty easy to solo, but trainers who want to face off against the two Legendary Battle Raid bosses appearing next week should look ahead and start planning some counters. Although Unova and Sinnoh each featured just a single 5-star Battle Raid, it looks like Hoenn is going to switch things up by allowing both Kyogre and Groudon to return to Battle Raids during the event.

One-star Raids

Treecko

Torchic

Mudkip

Ralts

Aron

Bagon

Three-star Raids

Mawile

Five-star Raids

Kyogre

Groudon

Mega Raids

Charizard (Mega Y)

Blastoise (Mega)

Abomasnow (Mega)

Both Kyogre and Groundon are incredibly popular in the Pokemon GO metagame, so this is likely going to be a very popular week for Battle Raids, with a lot of the attention going towards those 5-star slots. Players should make sure to plan their use of Raid Passes carefully to make sure they have enough of the resources for the Battle Raids that are most important to them and their goals, whether that means filling in some empty Pokedex entries or just earning encounters with some PvE and PvP meta relevant Pokemon.

As trainers continue working through these amazing Celebration events and enjoying the new era of the GO Beyond update as they count down to the next season, they may want to keep hunting down the best Unova Pokemon in the game if improving their Battle Raid rosters and completing their Pokedex is their primary goal. Be sure to check back in the near future for more Pokemon GO strategy guides, news, and updates. Until then, good luck out there, trainers!
