The Galarian Zigzagoon Community Day will kick off on Saturday, August 13 in Pokemon GO and provide some extra special bonuses for participating trainers. Trainers can expect all the usual features including increased spawns, an optional ticketed Special Research Task, and a list of other bonuses up for grabs. There are Group Bonuses available this time around as well, so be sure to gather some friends before heading out to the activities and get ready to earn some bonus Stardust.

Galarian pokemon are generally fairly popular, even though Galarian Zigzagoon isn’t going to dominate the meta game or anything like that. Regardless of whether players are really interested in Galarian Zigzagoon or not, the long list of other bonuses wiill likely be too tempting to pass up when the August Community Day event arrives.

Start and End Times

Starting in February 2019, Community Day events now always take place on local time, no matter where you are playing. That changes a bit over the winter months as the time is split between hemispheres rather than time zones. It looks like we’re back to one time at this point though.

Special Move

Evolve Galarian Linoone (Galarian Zigzagoon’s Evolution) during the event or up to five hours afterward to get an Obstagoon that knows the Charged Attack Obstruct. Make sure to evolve during the active time window (within two hours of the event ending) if you want to secure the exclusive move.

Special Research Storyline - Field Notes: Galarian Zigzagoon

For US$1. 00 (or the equivalent pricing tier in your local currency), you’ll be able to access the Galarian Zigzagoon Community Day–exclusive Special Research story, Field Notes: Galarian Zigzagoon. Stay tuned for when tickets for the Special Research story go live. Don’t forget: you’re now able to purchase and gift tickets to any of your friends that you’ve achieved a Friendship level of Great Friends or higher with. To gift a ticket, tap the Special Research ticket in the in-game shop, then tap the Gift button instead of the Buy button. Tickets are nonrefundable (subject to applicable law and the exceptions set forth in the Terms of Service). Please note that this Special Research will not include an in-game medal.

Bonuses

3× Catch Stardust. 2× chance for Trainers level 31 and up to receive XL Candy from catching Pokemon. 2× Candy for catching Pokémon. Lure Modules activated during the event will last for three hours. Incense activated during the event will last for three hours. Take a few snapshots during Community Day for a surprise! One additional Special Trade can be made for a maximum of three for the day.

  • Trades made during the event and up to five hours afterward will require 50% less Stardust.

Bonuses for Groups

11:00 a. m. to 2:00 p. m. local time Work together with other Trainers between 11:00 a. m. to 2:00 p. m. local time to unlock additional bonuses! If enough Pokémon are caught by Trainers with help from a single Lure Module, the 3× Stardust bonus for catching Pokémon near the Lured PokéStop will be increased to a 4× bonus Stardust for 30 minutes. *

This bonus will not stack with the base 3× Catch Stardust bonus and will instead replace it for the duration.

Shiny Variant

Niantic usually doesn’t confirm the shiny chance until after the event has started, but keep an eye out for shiny Zigzagoon while hunting. They’ve been a part of every other Community Day event, so we fully expect to see them this month, as well.
