As always Rocket bosses Cliff, Arlo, Sierra, and Giovanni are back to cause trouble once players work their way through the Grunts. Taking down each boss is definitely a doable task, but Pokemon GO players will want to take the time to prepare the perfect lineup of counters before the fight begins.

One nice bonus this time around is that the lineups are a bit more predictable. Usually there’s a larger pool of Pokemon that Cliff (or the other bosses) can throw out during a fight, but during this event the lineup is staying the same for everyone. Keep in mind that players will want to use some Stardust and Candy to power up their counters and burn some TMs to equip them with the perfect moveset to make the fight go as smoothly as possible.
Cliff’s Pokemon
Pinsir
Tyranitar
Articuno
Pinsir Counters
Pinsir is a Bug-type, which means players are going to want to bring in Fire-, Flying-, or Rock-types to exploit its weakness.
Moltres - Fire Spin/Overheat
Blaziken - Fire Spin/Blaze Kick
Chandelure - Fire Spin/Overheat
Tyranitar Counters
Anyone with experience in PvP or PvE knows that Ttar is a beast. This Dark-type Pokemon can be brutal, so be sure to take advantage of its weakness by putting in your best Fighting-type Pokemon.
Lucario - Counter/Power-Up Punch
Machamp - Counter/Cross Chop
Conkeldurr - Counter/Dynamic Punch
Articuno Counters
Here is the tough one. This time around Cliff has access to the Legendary Ice-, Flying-type bird Articuno. This Gen 1 Legendary is a very tough opponent, so players will want to exploit its weakness to Rock-type moves. Be careful to avoid Ground-type Pokemon for this fight, because they will basically be killed in one-shot.
Heatran - Fire Spin/Stone Edge
Tyranitar - Smack Down/Stone Edge
Melmetal - Thunder Shock/Rock Slide
Aggron - Smack Down/Stone Edge
As trainers continue working through this amazing anniversary event, they may want to keep hunting down the best Unova Pokemon in the game if improving their Battle Raid rosters and completing their Pokedex is their primary goal. Be sure to check back in the near future for more Pokemon GO strategy guides, news, and updates. Until then, good luck out there, trainers!
