As seen in the tweet below from the prolific Pokemon GO dataminer known simply as “Chrales”, a particular game file updated in the title reads “badge_pokedex_entries_gen4_title : “Sinnoh”, indicating that Gen 4 favorites like the Water-type Piplup, Grass-type Turtwig, Fire-type Chimcha, and much more could be added soon. After all, “Sinnoh” is the setting used in the fourth generation titles of Pokemon Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum.

As previously mentioned, this is simply the latest piece of evidence for players to add to the pile that Niantic plans to bring Gen 4 creatures into Pokemon GO at some point down the line, as the company’s CEO and the game’s creator, John Hanke, has already confirmed that they’re in the works and on the way. However, Chrales’ datamine indicates that Niantic might be bringing them into the title a lot sooner than some fans of the game thought.

Taking all of this into consideration, it seems as if it’s only a matter of time before Generation 4 Pokemon start showing up in Pokemon GO, but there’s no telling just yet as to when. And while Gen 4 creatures coming to the ARG should excite PoGO’s plethora of fans, one of the more thrilling prospects that could trump Gen 4’s arrival is the prospect of PvP potentially releasing before the end of 2018.

Pokemon GO is available now for Android and iOS devices.
