The announcement comes from Niantic and it seems like the Pokemon GO development team wants some time to put a pause on ratings and focus on a few adjustments to the game’s competitive scene. This means that the PvP Season 10 timeframe will technically be extended for just about 24 hours as tweaks are being made and the next season will kick off in the afternoon of March 1.

The biggest shock for most fans is likely going to be that the PvP scene will be pausing ratings during the upcoming new season while adjustments continue. It will be very interesting to see if this impacts any motivation to play or not in the coming months when the new season arrives. Even bigger changes are on the way when the following season arrives, so PvP fan have a lot to consider…
What you need to know
GO Battle League Season 10 will be extended until March 1, 2022, at 1:00 p. m. PST (GMT –8) rather than the previously announced end date of February 28, 2022. The next Season will begin immediately on March 1, 2022, at 1:00 p. m. PST (GMT –8) and run concurrently with the next in-game Season until June 1, 2022. at 1:00 p. m. PDT (GMT –8). GO Battle League seasons will run concurrently with in-game Seasons moving forward.
For the next Season
Rankings will cap at Rank 20, and there will be no visible ratings. Cups will rotate weekly and will feature re-runs of former special cups. The Season will be used as an opportunity to test some possible new formats for GO Battle Days and their reward structures. Attack changes or attack availability updates—as typically seen at the beginning of most GO Battle League seasons— will not be made in order to maintain stability for Pokemon Battles as the World Championship Series circuit begins. Rankings for Season 10 will be used to determine early registration eligibility for the Pokemon GO World Championship Series.
It will be very interesting to see these changes go into effect and hear what reactions the active PvP scene has to them. Niantic has done a pretty good job of responding to player feedback so far and evolving the scene to adjust to what the majority of players are enjoying most. Hopefully the new changes go over well and players continue to engage with the PvP side of the mobile AR game.
