Go Battle League is a pretty big shift from the Battle Raid metagame that involves a more linear planning strategy. Although you do need a powerful roster to complete a Battle Raid efficiently, the type match ups never change midway through a Raid. With Go Battle League though, Pokemon GO players need to be ready to face-off against a roster of opposing Pokemon and there may not always be a perfect counter on the squad to take the enemies down easily.

A typical Go Battle League run spans five matches. After many players found themselves getting stomped in all five matches and walking away more frustrated than entertained, Niantic has decided to make the experience a little more fun for rookies, or players on a bad streak, with a play until you win feature.
The play until you win feature allows trainers to continue battling, even after they lose the first five matches, until they’ve either one one match or reached 15 losses. This should help players get more practice and build up some skill with extra matches without having to purchase another entry.
Trainers do need to keep in mind that each of these matches will impact their Go Battle League rankings, so it is definitely smart to try and win as early as possible. Earning more matches isn’t worth dropping down through the ranks by losing up to fifteen matches in a row.
