A play session of Pokemon GO can quickly see players racking up double-digit counts of new Pokemon in their arsenal, especially during events like Community Days. The game’s limited storage space for new Pokemon combined with a growing roster leads to the necessity for players to either upgrade their storage or transfer out old Pokemon. However, the need to appraise Pokemon to discern their stats often adds to the time players need to take to inspect each new Pokemon. One Reddit user has suggested a change that could quicken that inspection.

Reddit user Moumantai recently suggested a major change that would streamline Pokemon GO’s Appraisal system, allowing players to quickly check stats. The “Quick Appraisal” system would give players an idea of a Pokemon’s stats right from the Pokemon screen, showing a Pokemon’s IVs and star rating as soon as players select them. Showing stats from a player’s menu would allow them to quickly select weaker Pokemon to transfer out, instead of having to check each creature’s individual stats. Pokemon GO’s “Mass Transfer” function does not currently show any stats aside from Combat Power when selecting Pokemon to transfer.

Checking a Pokemon’s IV and star rating are one of the most important ways for players to discern the competitive viability of a newly captured Pokemon. Pokemon with good IVs will increase the chances of those Pokemon boasting high Combat Power ratings, which will be important for battling and doing in-game raids. IVs become especially important when players are looking to take their teams into PvP, with the GO Battle League acting as a competitive mode for players to show off their strongest Pokemon.

Moumantai’s proposed Quick Appraisal system is just one of many changes fans have suggested to improve Pokemon GO’s UI. A recent update from Niantic introduced a major change to Pokemon GO’s item bag system, allowing players to more quickly and easily find specific items in their inventory. Fan suggestions and outcry have also led to changes to the game like Remote Raids and increased radiuses for PokeStops, making the game more accessible and easier to play. Pokemon GO has plenty of areas the game’s UI could improve and fans are always coming up with ideas to make the massive mobile game better.
