Pokemon GO has confirmed that the August 2022 Community Day Pokemon is Galarian Zigzagoon, the Gen 8 interpretation of the raccoon Gen 3 Pokemon. Pokemon Sword and Shield first introduced Galarian Zigzagoon alongside other regional variants for Pokemon like Corsola, Koffing, Meowth, Slowpoke, and Mr. Mime. Unlike the various shades of brown reflected in the Hoenn regional version of Zigzagoon, Galarian Zigzagoon has thick black and white stripes that transfer over to the evolution of this regional variant, Linoone.

Galarian Zigzagoon will appear far more frequently than normal between 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM local time on Pokemon GO’s August 13 Community Day, offering players the opportunity to catch the Galairan regional variant. Just like with the Gen 3 version of Zigzagoon, the Galarian version of the Pokemon evolves into a Linoone at level 20, but unlike the Hoenn one, it further evolves into Obstagoon. In Pokemon GO, players can evolve their Linoone into an Obstagoon during this event or five hours afterward, and it is guaranteed to know the Charged Attack: Obstruct.

The August 2022 Community Day offers Special Research for Galarian Zigzagoon for a $1 additional fee that will give players more rewards for their progression during the event. Event bonuses are included with each Pokemon GO Community Day, with August 2022’s being extra catch Stardust and Candy, longer-lasting incense and Lures, improved trades, and more. Pokemon GO players that work together to take on four-star Galarian Linoone Raid Battles during August’s Community Day during the event will receive even more bonus rewards.

While many Pokemon GO players are celebrating August 2022’s Community Day for focusing on Galarian Zigzagoon, others lament that the update doesn’t include more fundamental improvements. Because some previous Pokemon GO events have had time constraint issues, several fans have pleaded with Niantic to make the Community Day longer or change the time frame for their region. Fans that are also affected by the heat waves happening in many countries around the world have suggested that the Galarian Zigzagoon Community Day may be among the hottest on record.

Pokemon GO is available now for Android and iOS.
