How to Get a Shiny Pokemon
Even some players who have been playing Pokemon GO for a long time may not have seen a single shiny catch yet. With a drop chance of 1 in 450 (or 1 in 25 on Community Days), shiny Pokemon are really difficult to come by. They can also be also difficult to spot.
Shiny Pokemon are slightly different in color from their non-shiny counterparts; some of the color changes are so small, it can be hard to tell at first. However, the Pokemon will glitter before throwing the first ball to catch it, making it pretty obvious that this Pokemon is special. But not all shiny Pokemon can be caught in the wild; if players got their shiny from an egg or Raid, they’ll have to search for Pokemon marked “shiny” in their list of caught Pokemon.
So how do players catch, evolve, and get their favorite Pokemon as shiny versions?
Shiny Pokemon from Eggs
While most Pokemon can only be caught as shiny from one place, some Pokemon will show up in several of these lists, as they can be caught from lots of different places. Here are the shiny Pokemon that can be hatched from eggs:

Shiny Pokemon Available Through Evolution
Some shiny Pokemon will have to evolve from their shiny, younger counterparts. Here’s a list of those that must evolve from previous evolution.

Not Available As Shiny (Yet!)
The rest of the Pokemon are unfortunately not available in shiny as of yet, but Niantic seems to be adding new shiny Pokemon with every event. Soon all Pokemon will hopefully be available in both regular and shiny so everyone can truly catch ’em all! There are about 250 Pokemon without shiny versions; these are listed below but are subject to change with the next event! These are all on the list of things everyone hopes that Pokemon GO adds in the near future.
Pokemon GO is out now in select regions for Android and iOS devices.
