The addition of Azelf, Mesprit, and Uxie is rather significant, as this marks the first time legendary Pokemon have been available in the wild in Pokemon GO. In the past, legendary Pokemon have only been available through legendary raids and Field Research breakthrough boxes, so this is a rather exciting development for Pokemon GO players.

However, as previously stated, details on Azelf, Mesprit, and Uxie are pretty scarce right now. We know that some Pokemon GO players have already encountered the legendary Pokemon in the wild, but it remains to be seen how widespread their spawn rate is. It’s also unclear if these Gen 4 legendary Pokemon will be available in Pokemon GO on a permanent basis or if they’re only in the game temporarily.

Something else that has yet to be determined about Azelf, Mesprit, and Uxie is if any of them are region exclusives. There are already some region-exclusive Pokemon in Pokemon GO, but to date, none of the legendaries have been region-exclusives. However, since these Gen 4 legendary Pokemon, collectively known as the Lake Guardian Trio, are in the wild instead of in raid battles, it’s quite possible that they are only appearing in specific parts of the world. Again, we must stress that has yet to be determined at this time.

In the coming days, data will be collected from Pokemon GO players that should give fans a better idea of exactly how Niantic has implemented these Gen 4 legendary Pokemon in the game. For now, Pokemon GO trainers should keep an eye out in case Azelf, Mesprit, or Uxie pop up in their area.

Pokemon GO is out now for iOS and Android mobile devices.
