While there is no direct confirmation from Niantic on when or how these new pokemon will be implemented into the game, the information comes from a well known dataminer named Chrales, who often leaks news on Pokemon GO HUB. Chrales accurately leaked information on the return of this year’s Eggstravaganza event shortly before it was officially announced, and now more information is being revealed, but this time regarding shiny Pokemon.
The information first appeared in Chrales’ livestream and was then reported on by Pokemon GO HUB. Later on, it was then compiled in a couple tweets by LeekDuck. The images tweeted show a remarkable amount of pokemon from the Kanto and Johto regions in their new skins.
Some of the more recognizable Pokemon that will receive an update include the Kanto starters and their evolved forms (except for Charizard) and the Johto starters, except for the Cyndaquil lineage. Notably, Moltres, who was available via Field Research, also has a shiny variation.
When these Pokemon will be made available in the game, and if they are all the Pokemon that are currently planned to receive a shiny variation, is not confirmed. Their appearance in network traffic, however, could possibly mean that Niantic can activate them for the game whenever they want.
The timing of this discovery is hot on the heels of numerous shiny reveals by Niantic and datamines from fans. Most recently, a player discovered a shiny magikarp in a Field Research encounter, which appears to be setting up for players to discover shiny Pokemon through this method.
Not only that, but Niantic is set to have a special Generation 1 event starting today (April 10th). The appearance of these generation 1 shiny sprites during this special event could just be coincidence, or maybe not. When and if these Pokemon will become available is still anyone’s guess, but it seems likely given the Chrales track record with leaks.
Pokemon GO is available now for Android and iOS.
