As seen in the tweet below from the official Pokemon GO Twitter account, Niantic asks fans, “Are you ready?” and states that Trainer Battles will be coming to the wildly successful mobile ARG “soon”. Unfortunately, though, the company didn’t offer up an exact release date for the PvP feature, but considering how speedy its patches have been following announcements of some updates in the past, there’s a good chance it could come as early as next week.

For those unaware, Niantic CEO John Hanke stated in 2017 that the developer was going to incorporate an update this year for what he then called a “battle mode” feature. This prompted loads of speculation that Pokemon GO would finally be getting PvP after being available for a little more than two years on the market. Fast forward to today, and it appears as if Hanke was just being coy with his terminology, for Trainer Battles are on the cusp of being added.

What’s more is that Niantic’s European Head of Marketing, Anne Beuttenmuller, said a few months ago that the studio was aiming to add PvP by the end of 2018. With this being the case, it looks as if the developer’s time frame for the feature is right on schedule for December.

As of now, the exact release date for Trainer Battles in Pokemon GO isn’t the only thing that fans have questions about, for it’s still unclear as to how the PvP feature will actually work. Thankfully, though, we won’t have to wait too much longer to find out.

Pokemon GO is available now for Android and iOS.
