Evidently, France’s education minister Najat Vallaud-Belkacem wants rare Pokemon to be banned from the country’s schools. Vallud-Beklacem says that she intends to meet with Niantic, the developer of Pokemon GO, in order to discuss the potential dangers that having rare Pokemon in schools could lead to. The minister plans to explain that the augmented-reality game could lead to non-students going into schools, posing a security risk to students, if they feel that there’s a chance to capture one of the rarely seen virtual creatures....

For some time now, Pokemon GO Community Day events have been six hours long, rather than the original three hours. This change came in 2020 alongside a wealth of other Pokemon GO tweaks meant to empower fans playing from home during COVID-19 quarantines. Niantic has now announced that it’s returning to the original three-hour time limit, and although it provides an argument for why it’s reverting to the old structure, Niantic’s case isn’t enough....

Pokemon GO Season of Light will start on September 1 at 10am local time, which is when Season of GO is scheduled to end. Niantic hasn’t revealed much about Pokemon GO’s Season of Light in an official capacity, but it has released a brief teaser trailer that gives fans an idea of what to expect. From September to December, Pokemon GO’s Season of Light will feature new Generation 7 Pokemon for players to catch, and it seems this will include some fresh legendary Pokemon....

The event is part of a series of weeklong celebrations that are counting down to Pokemon GO Tour: Kanto. Players will have today through Sunday, January 17 to take full advantage of the special bonuses, spawns, and hatches to help fill in their Pokemon GO Pokedex and catch some of the most powerful Pokemon from the Sinnoh region. To mark the introduction of Team Rocket in Pokemon GO, Niantic has released a new trailer highlighting the evil group that may even tease Giovanni for the game. Giovanni, for the uninitiated, is the head of Team Rocket and the main antagonist of the original Pokemon Red and Blue Game Boy games. Giovanni has also played a prominent role in the Pokemon anime and some of the films, so his debut in Pokemon GO would be a big deal....

It seems that the player’s decision to join one of the three teams, Valor, Mystic, or Instinct, actually affect the game a little more after today’s Pokemon GO update begins to roll out across the world. Now gamers are able to hit the new “appraise” button when viewing their catches in order to have their respective team leader comment on the strength of their Pokemon. As shown above, user thenudedude on reddit posted screenshots of the new feature, as his team leader Spark praises the trainer’s Lapras....

The new tracker feature for Pokemon GO is now rolling out to all states in the US west of the Mississippi River (except for Alaska and Hawaii), numerous regions in Canada, and all of Australia. The new tracker tool shows which nearby PokeStops the Pokemon are close to, which should make finding the creatures significantly easier than it has been in recent months. Of course, the feature is still in its beta testing phase, so it may not work as accurately as fans may hope....

The more Story Missions players complete in Pokemon Legends: Arceus, the more Requests become available around Jubilife Village. The Farm is linked to the “Help Wanted” sidequests, which are easy to complete - especially if players are catching every Pokemon they see. Players will first start with Request 27: Plowing the Fields, followed by Request 42: Watering the Fields, and finally Request 60, Rock Smashing in the Fields. Items are still ever-present in Pokemon Legends: Arceus, though, and players can find heaps of different types of them - from crafting materials to the usual potions and Poke Balls, including plenty of evolution items. Speaking of evolution items, Pokemon Legends: Arceus players can evolve Haunter into Gengar completely solo if they want, and the same holds true for all other trade-exclusive evolutions in the game - including Pokemon like Porygon Z, Steelix, Alakazam, and even more....

Taking place in Hisui, a pre-modern version of Pokemon’s Sinnoh region, Pokemon Legends: Arceus embraces the series’ longstanding motto of “Gotta catch ’em all” by having the player join the Survey Corps, responsible for observing and recording data about the approximately 250 species of Pokemon residing in the newly discovered land. Players fill out their Pokedex and earn money by completing Research Tasks, such as catching a certain number of a particular Pokemon or seeing it use a certain move....

As one of the new Pokemon introduced in Pokemon Legends: Arceus, Basculegion is an exciting addition to the lineup. It is a Water/Ghost-type Pokemon with a distinctive aquatic look. Some highlights of its design include a mostly green coloration and fins like a fish. In addition to its appearance, players can summon the Pokemon in order to travel through the water to reach areas previously off-limits. However, one player recently discovered things do not always go as planned while riding one of these creatures....

While Pokemon Legends: Arceus offered a ton of new features for fans of the franchise, including a spin on the way the Pokedex works, additional Hisuian regional forms of Pokemon, and different mounts to access more areas of the map, for some players there still felt as if there was something missing. Some felt as though Pokemon Legends: Arceus’ lack of an open world was a tad disappointing and despite there being several distinct areas to explore, the fact they were each separated by a loading screen took away somewhat from the openness of the game’s setting....

Transporting players to a version of the Sinnoh region inspired by feudal Japan, Pokemon Legends: Arceus allows for open-world areas, similar to the Monster Hunter franchise. Though many were initially disappointed that they wouldn’t be getting a true open-world experience, the exploration offered in the latest Pokemon title departs enough from the more linear worlds of the previous games to please fans. However, there is one aspect of Pokemon Legends: Arceus that has players unimpressed....

Fans were left waiting on the expected generation 4 remakes for a while. Pokemon Let’s Go was another take on the first generation, but it took a new approach. Unfortunately, these much-anticipated remakes released as Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. They were a massive step back from previous games, and one of the biggest complaints about them is that they were too faithful in recreating Diamond and Pearl. There was a glimmer of hope in the form of another Pokemon game announced at the same time, however, and that game was Pokemon Legends: Arceus....

The easiest way to get Charmander in Pokemon Let’s Go Pikachu and Let’s Go Eevee is by crossing the Nugget Bridge in Cerulean City. On the other side of the bridge is a trainer with a Charmander at their side. Speak with them, and they will reveal that they want to give Charmander to a “better trainer.” For players to prove that they are a better trainer, they need to catch 50 Pokemon total, so once that’s done, speak to the trainer again to get Charmander....

Much like in Pokemon GO, Pokemon Let’s Go has an option where players can exchange any Pokemon they don’t need for special candies. Unlike GO where these candies evolved Pokemon (in Let’s Go, that’s done the traditional way with EXP), they instead improve a Pokemon’s stats and thus make them tougher for the battles ahead. To do this, players must open their Box by pressing the Y button while on the Party screen....

According to the Pokemon Company, “Pokemon: Let’s Go, Pikachu and Pokemon: Let’s Go, Eevee will have online play functionality [and] battling and trading with other players over the Internet or locally will be available in these games. However, the feature set will be somewhat simplified in comparison to previous games in that there is no GTS, Wonder Trade, or Battle Spot (Rating Battle, Free Battle, and Online Competition, etc.) for example”....

One of the more fondly remembered spinoffs is Pokémon Puzzle League for the Nintendo 64. This frantic match 3 puzzle game was a pokemon flavored reskin of the classic Panel de Pon/Tetris Attack!, and is one of the best versions of that title.
