According to newly-released figures, sales of main series Pokemon games have surpassed 200 million units worldwide. This figure includes all sales made since the series began in 1996 with the original games, through to February of 2016. It does not take into account the sales of spin-off series like Friday’s Western release of Pokken Tournament, however if it did, the series has sold over 297 million units. That is up from 277 million units that were sold as of September 2015, according to The Pokemon Company’s website....

Pokemon Journeys was not available in the US until the 12th of June, even though it’s been available in Japanese since November of last year. In Pokemon Quest, the recipes players cook result in different colored stews, which are meant to attract Pokemon that are roughly the same color to the base camp. Different ingredient combinations may improve the odds of luring rarer Pokemon to camp, and the pot players use to cook with can determine the quality of Pokemon that show up as well. There are a ton of potential ingredient combinations players can cook in Pokemon Quest that will result in the same stews....

Found by the well-known data miner Chrales, it seems Niantic is taking a one-stone-to-evolve-them-all approach, as this new Pokemon GO item is described as a “special stone originally found in the Sinnoh region that can make certain species of Pokemon evolve. It is very tough and has a beatific sheen.” Of course, it is unconfirmed if this will be the sole method, but if so, this will make completing the Sinnoh Pokedex that much harder....

The Flying typing has been a series staple since the first generation of the franchise, starting with Pokemon Red and Blue for the Nintendo Gameboy. Since then, the series has had a fair amount of notable Flying-type trainers like Falkner, the first Flying-type Gym Leader residing in the Johto region. The spawn rates for certain Pokemon tend to fluctuate depending on the season and current event in Pokemon GO. Trainers may still be battling the Regi-bosses in Pokemon GO, but Gen 4 Raids could be right around the corner this fall or winter. There will obviously be some new strong Pokemon to put to use once Gen 4 is out, but many creatures from Gen 1-3 will still be incredibly important to the metagame. For players who have the Stardust to spare, powering up the best of those Gen 1-3 Pokemon is a smart move....

To get access to the Special Research, players will need to either complete the four previous Season of Alola Research Tasks or spend $4.99 on a ticket before June 1. According to Niantic, Pokemon GO’s Lunar New Year event is set to run from February 4, 2019 at 1:00 PM PST through February 13, 2019 at 1:00 PM PST. During the course of this event, Trainers should encounter a much higher frequency of Rattata, Ekans, Mankey, Ponyta, Electabuzz, Dratini, Mareep, Miltank, Torchic, Poochyena, Spoink, and Buneary, as each are the Pokemon equivalent to the animals of the Chinese zodiac....

Since then, Niantic has steadily released updates that have reinvigorated the game, while simultaneously boosting its revenue. Hunting for Pokemon is still a pain, but this latest update has temporarily increased the spawn rate of Pokemon to ridiculous levels and should alleviate that issue for a brief time. From now until November 11, players should encounter a lot more of the little critters. In some cases, players are reporting entire crowds of Pokemon surrounding them, and they couldn’t be more delighted....

The Buddy Up event is the latest in a series of exceptions by Niantic allowing everyone to play from home. While the Buddy system has been part of the game for a few years, the recent Buddy revamp allowed trainers to take a more active role in bonding with their Pokemon and be rewarded in return. Immediate bonuses that players will notice are the increased buddy gifts and double XP for evolving any Pokemon, but there is even more going on during this week....

An official press release from Pokemon GO confirms that Gift Stickers are on the way to the game and offers some more details about the upcoming Raid Invite system that has been hinted at in the past. Players only learned about the Gift Sticker system through yesterday’s datamine, but it sounds like it won’t be long before the feature is available in the game. The “Raid!” day for Pokemon GO Fest 2021 offers players a chance to experience a ton of Legendary Battle Raids as each hour brings a different batch of raid bosses for players to encounter at local Gyms. For most players, it’s unrealistic to beat a raid solo in Pokemon GO, especially against a higher-tier raid Pokemon like Machamp. However, DrAwesomeBlox did just that, and with a rather unorthodox team. While Xatu isn’t one of the best Pokemon to take into raids, it’s worth noting that DrAwesomeBlox’s Pokemon of choice is super effective against the fighting-type Pokemon Machamp.
