Some of these include having specific Pokemon-themed cafes in the country’s major cities, while some even include having a Grimer-themed talking recycling bin that encourages awareness for the environment and sustainability. All of these initiatives are likely a great way to keep loyal fans engaged. They also boost the country’s tourism industry, encouraging many locals to check out locations that may not be as high-profile as other popular tourist spots....

Niantic has announced that the new Pokemon will be entering the rotation with Mega Venusaur and Mega Houndoom, and speculation is at a fever pitch in the community. Even though Pokemon GO is multiple generations behind Pokemon Sun and Moon, those titles have still had an influence on the augmented reality game. For example, as part of its Halloween 2017 event, Niantic added a new hat for players to customize their avatar with that was based on Mimikyu, who has broken out as one of the most popular seventh generation Pokemon. About a month later, Niantic surprised Pokemon GO fans with tropical-themed clothing items for their avatars as a way to commemorate the launch of Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon....

Seasoned Pokemon GO Trainers are likely excited to catch, evolve and trade these new Pokemon from the Unova region, which are available now. Players will be able to both grow their collection and try out the Trade Evolution mechanic, which will allow players to evolve their Pokemon at a lower price than usual. After the update, players can now enjoy “cutting-edge” 8-bit graphics when accessing the Pokedex and the Nearby Pokemon screen in Pokemon GO. According to the Pokemon GO website, these 8-bit graphics are not the type found in old-school Pokemon games though; the 8-bit graphics in Pokemon GO are approximately twice the definition of 4K where “the chunky squares of each pixel provide realistic detail and unbelievable definition.” This feature is applied to all Pokemon in the game and it will hopefully increase the game’s immersive quality for old-school players by giving them the feeling of holding a real-life version of the classic games’ Pokedex in the palms of their hands....

Today, Niantic revealed what some of those new Pokemon are, and how to get them in Pokemon GO. In a post on Pokemon GO Live, and via a new trailer that can be seen below, Niantic shows off new hatchable pokemon, including Togepi and Pichu. Today, Niantic announced that it has completed the acquisition of Escher Reality, a company that specializes in the advancement of augmented reality (AR), the technology behind Pokemon GO. In a press release, Niantic explains that “Escher’s innovations focus on exploring the intersection of digital and physical worlds, augmented reality (AR), and computer vision. Escher’s technology helps to build persistent, cross platform, multi-user experiences.” The acquisition “significantly accelerates our work on persistent, shared AR as part of the Niantic real-world application platform,” says Niantic....

The Pokemon GO Raid day Special Research, Strange Rings, features a pretty interesting storyline and definitely has the Pokemon Hoopa at the center of its mystery and themes. Hoopa is a popular Psychic/Ghost-type Pokemon who was introduced to the franchise in Gen 6, but has not made its debut in the mobile AR game yet. Some players had high hopes that today would be the day that changes, but so far it doesn’t seem to be the case....

Pokemon GO players who have been earning a stamp every day since the feature went live should still be able to bag one more Moltres before it is replaced by Zapdos. However, players could theoretically wait to earn their Field Research breakthrough stamp until May 1 at 1pm Pacific to earn Zapdos as soon as it’s available. Otherwise players will have to wait until Thursday, May 3 to get their first Zapdos through the Field Research system....

Pokemon GO version 0.119.5 has now been released in some territories, and while the update is believed to be relatively small (in terms of live, available changes), by poking around in the APK file for the update, fans have uncovered plans for upcoming features. The 0.119.5 update files mention something called “Weekly Fitness Goals,” and there are signifiers of different distances (in kilometers), as well as different levels (1, 2, and 3)....

The incident happened in Vancouver, Washington. Otton, who uses the Pokemon GO username AndySamberg, had taken over a Pokemon Gym recently claimed by a man named Stephen Jolly. Jolly, armed with a tire iron, then “very angrily” confronted Otton and his two friends, including Grayson Hagstrom, who was reportedly punched multiple times by the enraged Pokemon GO player. Jolly has admitted to hitting a table with a tire iron, but denies that he punched Hagstrom....

The Hoenn Celebration event kicks off in Pokemon GO on Tuesday, January 19th and offers players the opportunity to fill in some missing Pokedex entries with increased Hoenn region spawns, Egg hatches, and Battle Raid bosses. The event will introduce a handful of bosses that differ from the the rest of the January 2021 Battle Raid bosses, so trainers should plan ahead to determine which bosses they want to battle during the limited window....

While there should be an announcement relatively soon, the Silph Road and Pokemon GO players as a whole have been discussing what Pokemon will or should feature for January 2019. Thanks to a thus-far proven and established pattern, though, many believe that it will be the water-type gen 2 starter Totodile. Of all the contenders, this makes the most sense. Since Community Day events began, a starter has featured every other month: Pikachu in January 2018, Bulbasaur in March, Charmander in May, Squirtle in July, Chikorita in September, and Cyndaquil in November....

On April 13, Pokemon GO players will be able to add the Dragon-type Pokemon Bagon and its evolutions, Shelgon and Salamence, to their rosters. This event is also expected to feature shiny versions of these Pokemon, though Niantic has not confirmed this. However, it would be a serious break from tradition for the developer to not include these shiny variants. As seen below, the shiny Bagon’s family models are green compared to their standard colors....

Niantic has tweeted out Pokedex entries for two Gen 6 Pokemon that will presumably be coming to Pokemon GO in an upcoming update. A specific release date wasn’t provided, but the tweets suggest that the Dragon-type Pokemon Goomy and the Fairy-type Pokemon Swirlix will be added to Pokemon GO sooner rather than later. Presumably, these Pokemon will come with their evolutions as well, but that has yet to be confirmed....

One such error can be seen through a viral Reddit post showing how the Pokemon GO app advised a user to prioritize their growing career as a Pokemon trainer over their own personal safety. The image shown on the post is of the player’s phone lock screen, where a severe weather warning notified the user that a dangerous tornado was heading their way and they should find shelter. However, above this cautionary warning, the Pokemon GO app advises the very opposite, posing the player the question, “why not step outside for a bit?...

Luckily, each of thee enemies has already appeared at least once before, which means many Pokemon GO players likely already have a handful of strong counters powered up and ready for the fight. That said, a lot has changed in Pokemon since Terrakion, first appeared in 5-star Battle Raids, so there are some new counters and movesets available that players may want to use to update their old roster....
