Niantic recently tweaked Pokemon GO’s Incense by drastically reducing the rate at which Pokemon spawn, while Incense is active unless players are moving while using Incense. That change has sparked online protests and criticism from the Pokemon GO community. While that’s certainly negative for Pokemon GO itself, the latest battle with Niantic over Pokemon GO also matters because Niantic might release a new game in the near future. A new trademark suggests that something called Campfire is in development at Niantic, but Campfire could struggle to find an audience if Niantic’s reputation is defined by player outrage....

This whole Ultra Unlock event comes alongside Pokemon GO’s 5th anniversary, after having originally launched on July 6th all the way back in 2016. So far, players have been treated to new Pokemon from across several generations, including some of the past games’ best Legendary creatures to add to fans’ collections. An official post from the Pokemon GO support team confirms that Pokemon GO will soon be ending support for the iOS 8 operating system. The support team encourages players on iOS 8 to “upgrade their operating systems to iOS 9 and above for uninterrupted access to Pokemon GO.” Players have until November 20th, 2017 to upgrade to iOS 9 and above or else they will lose access to the game....

Earlier this week, Niantic took to Twitter and began teasing the arrival of several new Galarian features. First, Pokemon GO players saw the cryptic leek tweet, and then, Professor Willow began to share his amateur photos of a mysterious, colorful, Pokemon. We now know that these two hints definitively referred to Galarian Farfetch’d and Galarian Ponyta. During the first day of Pokemon GO Fest, the Pokemon spawning in the overworld normally and from Incense will change with each passing hour. Each of these hours are themed after different habitats with each of the collection challenges being based around them. Some Pokemon will only spawn normally, while others can only be found via Incense use.
