The update is currently being rolled out and many users are reporting that the patch was available to download today. We can confirm that we received the update on an iOS device on the east coast this afternoon. Niantic began by confirming the Fire and Ice event will take place starting on June 13th and will, as the name suggests, see an increase in spawn rates for Ice and Fire-type Pokemon. There will also be some XP bonuses involved, and Lucky Eggs will be sold at a discount for the duration of the Pokemon GO event. Shortly after the event concludes, Niantic will be shutting off Pokemon GO gyms across the world, as it reworks some of the mechanics involved with them....
During week two, Darkrai will be returning to Legendary Battle Raids in Pokemon GO, but this time around the boss will know Sludge Bomb. Niantic made the announcement through its NianitcHelp Support account that certain regions will be seeing price rises. It claims that changes to Apple’s App Store price tiers are the cause of the changes after Apple made changes to the developer tier list prices that went into effect in October. In Pokemon GO’s Season of Light, Professor Willow has returned from the Ultra Beast wormhole with legendary Pokemon Cosmog in tow. Cosmog is being introduced to Pokemon GO through a new Special Research quest called A Cosmic Companion, which will be spread out through the Season of Light. On Tuesday, two Marine Corps veterans, Javier Soch and Seth Ortega, headed to downtown Fullerton, Calif. in order to catch more Pokemon in Pokemon GO. After playing the game for around an hour, Soch’s game crashed and when the veteran looked up, he saw that a man was harassing a woman and her three sons. The man asked for shelter or cigarettes and Ortega directed him to the nearby police station suggesting that the station may be able to point the man towards some resources....
Pokemon that are close by are now linked to their nearest Pokestop, which is displayed next to the monster’s portrait on the nearby screen. This information gives players an easy way to determine which monsters are where, as opposed to only being told how far away they are, as per the previous footsteps system. Touching a portrait on the nearby screen offers up an even more useful location method. A small icon will be added to the player’s map, showing them where the Pokemon has spawned, and giving them a fighting chance of seeking it out and catching it....
