It’s worth mentioning, though, that this change doesn’t decrease Tyranitar’s newfound position in the metagame but properly balances the Rock- and Dark-type in Pokemon GO. Smack Down is the first time that a Community Day move was a fast move, and many players were expecting this move to turn Tyranitar into a quick Stone Edge cannon that was a devastatingly quick powerhouse. To counter this quick and destructive succession, Niantic slowed down how fast Smack Down builds energy, as the move now requires at least 13 usages to obtain 100 energy....

Pokemon GO fan Tom Currie has quit his job in order to play Pokemon GO full-time for two months in New Zealand. The gamer has been a Pokemon fan since childhood, and said that after six years of working, he was desperate for a break. He’s since been travelling through the country via bus and on-foot to try and capture every single Pokemon in the game. Currie has achieved quite a bit so far; out of the 151 original Pokemon, Currie has already captured 90 at the time of The Guardian’s report....

Perhaps the most popular of all the Pokemon GO Halloween costumes we’ve seen so far is the one in the video below from YouTuber mattycborgelt. It’s a rather complicated costume, simulating the act of catching a Pokemon in the game. As of yesterday, raids would start with the spawning of an egg above a gym location accompanied by a countdown. Players could gather a group of friends and travel to the raid together to make a social event out of it. It was a convenient and fun way to implement raids, but overnight the timer for the raid has disappeared. Now there’s no longer an egg or a countdown, simply a spawned Pokemon raid for players....

As many fans predicted, Porygon and Charmander came out on top. This lines up with which Pokemon were trending before the voting event and where most of the community buzz was focused. Although Shiny Charmander already feels very common considering that Pokemon received a Community Day many months ago, fans are clearly still excited enough about the Gen 1 starter to give it a second Pokemon GO Community Day this fall instead of opting for Grimer or Caterpie....

In a new trailer, Niantic has teased that the first fourth generation Pokemon are coming to Pokemon GO soon. The trailer shows a variety of different locations, and features brief glimpses at the fourth generation starter Pokemon, the grass-type Turtwig, the fire-type Chimchar, and the water-type Piplup. It then ends with a tease of one of the legendary Pokemon that will be added to the game as part of Gen 4 with what appears to be Giratina....

Hatching Pokemon out of eggs has been a staple of the franchise since Pokemon Gold and Silver in 1999, and carrying eggs that hatch after a certain distance covered has likewise been a part of Pokemon GO’s design since 2016. The kinds of Pokemon that can be received from eggs has varied, typically to coincide with certain events, but today’s adjustment affects the general hatching pool, with the in-universe explanation being seasonal change....

Rare candy isn’t about to become any less rare in Pokemon GO, but cashing in a bunch of it at once is finally going to be an option. So far, players have always had to transfer one rare candy at a time, which is incredibly tedious and time consuming.
